Chajul

Chajul is the most traditional town in the Ixil Triangle in El Quiche.  Very little Spanish is spoken in this town.  Most of the houses in Chajul are made of adobe as can be seen in the pictures.  The women use their traditional dresses.  You can find excellent textiles made in this region that are sold throughout Guatemala.  The market place is thriving with commercial activities and is also a day of social gathering where people meet to discuss the latest news of the town.  The market days in Chajul are every Tuesday and Friday.
